‘Footsteps’ in Cheltenham is our home and HQ. The charity began life here and it has always been a vibrant space for friends, colleagues and strangers to come together to work towards one common goal.
Our building has four floors. The basement is still undergoing renovation, and will eventually be the space for our Fair Trade shop as well as hosting temporary exhibitions. The ground floor hosts a buzzing and friendly café.
On the first floor is the ‘Dennis Mitchell Room’, named after the founder and active promoter of Global Footsteps through its first 25 years. This room is available for like-minded organisations or individuals to hire for meetings, film screenings and any other event. It also currently holds our shop display of Fair Trade crafts and gifts.
The top floor houses our office and committee room.
We are able to give guided tours of the whole building, including access to the roof where you can see the renewable technologies that were installed during the recent refurbishment. Our expert guides can give you lots of background information and technical data on the specification of our eco-improvements – from energy generation and insulation to low-flush toilets!
We are very proud of our building at 16 Portland Street, which is a working example of a sustainable building and a hub for local community activities.
