FoodLoose is an organic, fair trade, wholefoods refill shop based in the centre of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. We believe changing the way you shop can become the most powerful form of activism that you do. Every time you make a purchase, you cast a vote for the kind of world you wish to live in. We want that world to be sustainable, and thriving for our future generations to enjoy.
At FoodLoose we have over 500 organic, loose products for you to choose from. This includes cereals, pulses, legumes, beans, grains, nuts, seeds, dried fruits, dried herbs, dried spices, loose-leaf teas and coffee, flour, chocolate and sugar. It isn’t only dried food that is available: we also have a variety of liquid goods such as oils, and vinegar. As well as organic wholefoods, we also supply natural detergents, body care toiletries, soap including local, handmade soap and recycled toilet roll.
FoodLoose is a response to how much packaging there is on everyday items and our understanding of how much damage plastic, and specifically single use plastic, is doing to our planet. Only 9% of the world’s plastic is currently recycled. A third of all food produced is wasted, so FoodLoose enables customers to buy as little or as much as is needed, package free.
There are so many people out there who want to start working towards a zero waste lifestyle. That means different things to everyone: for some it’s all or nothing and getting all of their rubbish for a year into a kilner jar, and for others it’s finding ways of doing their shopping without filling up their bins and recycling. Our aim is to give people this opportunity by providing a reduced packaging, plastic free shopping experience for a sustainable Cheltenham.
“We don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly.
We need millions of people doing it imperfectly.”
–Anne Marie Bonneu, Zero Waste Chef. 6 Mar 2019
Due to the Coronavirus, we have had to unfortunately close our charity and coffee shop in line with government regulations. On the other hand, our Foodloose shop has been given the go ahead to continue operation as this is considered an essential service, therefore please do continue to shop with us.
